An African Safari. Doesn’t everyone have this on their bucket list? Well, they should.

I cannot say enough about our safari time. The only thing I’d change is to bring warmer clothes. It was quite cold early on the morning for that first safari. Fortunately the safari vehicles were stocked with blankets for us.

We stayed at Hoyo Hoyo. Amazing, private little huts, delicious food, and a private watering hole to draw the elephants right to your back door. I’ve heard of people spending a small fortune for this type of trip. We flew from Cape Town directly into Kruger National Park, Skukuza Airport, which was cool, we saw animals the entire drive to Hoyo Hoyo. There’s a closer airport but this one suited our timeline better.

They say the big five are rhino, leopard, lion, buffalo and elephant. We saw four of the five, only the rhino was elusive. And, I cannot even count how many giraffes and zebras we saw. Not to mention countless other creatures.

We stayed only two nights and honestly felt that we got to see a lot and were ready to head back to Cape Town. I think a week might be a little mundane, unless the weather was nicer and you could enjoy down time at the pool more.

No matter how long you stay, an African Safari is a MUST for everyone!
