Wow. What a year 2020 was. After a few cancelled trips to Disney World passed, my daughter and I finally got a reservation for opening week. We didn’t know what to expect, and tried to prepare for the disappointment.

However, it really was a wonderful visit! The masks were a little difficult in the heat, and we definitely missed the fireworks, and the school bread from the Kringla Bakery, but we really had a wonderful time!

So wonderful in fact, that we decided to get the most out of our annual passes, and the DVC points we’d just purchased in December 2019, and booked a few more trips for 2020. In all, I had 6 trips to Disney World in 2020. The first in January before the pandemic. Then again in July, twice in August, September, and then last in December.

Each trip was fabulous, each with just a few changes improving operations during the pandemic, and each just a little bit more crowded. We stayed at a few different resorts as well. I think it’ll be fun to try and stay at all of them. You really can’t beat the skyliner, it’s one of my favorite modes of transportation within Disney World. You can stay at a few different resorts and take advantage of the skyliner. Riviera and Caribbean Beach Resort were two of our favorites.

We had a lot of fun trying out some of the restaurants that are usually more difficult to get into. The best steak was at Hollywood Brown Derby, and that Cobb salad, wow. YUM!! And the view from Topolino’s Terrace was incredible at sunset. We enjoyed the Italian Pasta at Mama Melrose’s Ristorante Italiano a few times too.

My hubby and I went in January 2021 for my birthday, it’s even more crowded but the lines are still not bad. They’re opening more and more of the rides and the rows in the rides, so they’re constantly moving people through quickly.

I know some people refuse to go back until things are “normal”, if we ever get back to that, but my family has really treasured our time spent in this magical land.
