Because we couldn’t get a direct flight from Norway to Bulgaria, to visit our friends in Sofia, we decided to make a stop out of our layover. After looking at all the layover options we chose Warsaw. I’d always wanted to see it, and visit Auschwitz, so it seemed like a good plan.
We spent just a few hours in Warsaw checking out Old Town before we drove down near Auschwitz where we were spending the night.
We drove around looking at some of the WWII sites, and ate at Bar Pod Barbakanem, which we loved. Because we’d read some of the reviews, we had our note ready on our phone with the translation of our order so that we didn’t have to worry about not speaking Polish, it worked great.
It was sobering to see the reminders of WWII.
When we were done with our touring, we drove down to Oswiecim, Malopolska where we stayed for the night.
