While at church one Sunday, John and a friend were talking about how they’d do New Years Eve in NYC properly. That night, 6 of us purchased our plane tickets, for New Years Eve! We arrived that afternoon and our friends left about 5am. We decided if we were going to be in NYC, we were going to enjoy some good food too! Those hours in the wee morning were ROUGH. And we were doubting our decision to stay a little later. But, once we decided to take the metro out to Coney Island, and we got a good nap in on the way there, we were refreshed enough to make it through. And to enjoy some of the “Hidden Sites of NYC”. It was awesome! We got in line about 7:30pm. I made friends with the cops near by and they’d let me slip through the barricade and get food for our group. That only worked for a little while, then it was too crowded to continue. Rays Pizzas, it was nice not only to eat, but to have something warm to hold! There aren’t port a potties or anything around so I recommend dehydrating yourself, because typically once you leave the barricaded area, there’s no getting back in!
The clean up after was in sane. We all wondered how on earth they’d clean it up before rush hour the next morning, but by about 5am it was all done. Incredible team work NYC! New Years Eve in Times Square, another bucket list item for sure!
