For us, whenever we get the chance, we’ll spend time in NYC. This trip, a direct flight from NYC meant that we added a day to our trip and spent it in Manhattan. This was going to be a big trip, India, Israel, Belgium and Germany, what’s one more day, right? We looked up some different places this time, figuring it’s always fun to check out something new.
We started out at Turnstyle Underground Market, where we stuffed our faces with all kinds of deliciousness. Cheese, dumplings, Bolivian food, and more dumplings. We bought some chocolate there too, it served us well our whole trip, finishing it just before we left Israel.
From here, we’d read about a cool restaurant/bar in an old bank vault, Trinity Place. They serve caramelized onion tartlets that were fabulous.
Since we were close, we walked through the 911 Memorial.
The day was still young, so we walked over to TKTS to see what shows we could get discounted tickets for. We opted for Aladdin. It was fantastic! While in NYC some years ago, we were talking to a couple in line with us for The Tonight Show standby tickets, they had seen it and loved it, and it’d remained in my mind as something we’d see one day. It did not disappoint.
No trip to NYC, for us, is complete without pizza from Rays, so we grabbed a slice as we walked back to our hotel, The Manhattan at Times Square. We loved the hotel, and will probably choose it again next time.
The next morning was foggy and beautiful as we gathered our things and left for the airport. You’ll always have a piece of my heart NYC.
