In the years 2006 & 2007, my husband, John, took 7 trips to Biloxi, Mississippi to do relief work. He led groups of people from our church and would go down there and help out whoever the church down there had found that needed help. I was able to go early 2007, our two older girls went on a summer trip with John. In Oct. of 2007 we decided to drive out and take all six of our kids. We knew a mission trip like this was an experience we wanted them to have.

The devastation was just surreal. And while we went to bless others, we were blessed beyond our imaginations as we reached out to help others. When the group flew in, they’d fly into New Orleans. One time, without even thinking, we all got stuck in Mardi Gras traffic! It’s a full on holiday there in New Orleans, even in Biloxi traffic was crazy as people were out of school and off work early to celebrate.

John became family with all the people he worked with in Biloxi, and they all welcomed our family as such when we took our kids. I’m fairly certain it’s an experience the kids will never forget.
