This was a stop our friends told us about, it wasn’t even on my radar. WOW WOW WOW. In my opinion, it should be one of the wonders of the world, such an amazing, beautiful place!

We spent the night close by, in Kalampaka, at Alsos House. I’d highly recommend it, affordable, near town, with a view even! We checked in and walked to Pub 38 for dinner. The Philly kebab was delicious!

The view even at night from Alsos House is amazing.

Trying to mess around with iPhone night photography. 🙂

The next morning we enjoyed the breakfast, and set out early to see the monasteries. We’d heard that the crowds get worse as it gets later. It’s hard to know which ones to visit, but we went in two of them, Megan Meteoro – the Mega or Grand monastery, and Holy Trinity.

Holy Trinity is at the top of a rock, and from afar you can’t even imagine how you get there. You can see a small cable car for supplies, but there’s actually a trail for people. This one was my favorite. The bridge at Roussanou Monastery is cool, so we stopped and walked up but didn’t go in. You’ll need to have shoulders and knees covered to enter the monasteries, but they have cover ups for those who aren’t dressed appropriately.
