Wow. It’s hard to even put into words the magic that is Santorini. We stayed two nights here, in a cave house, and it was absolutely stunning. It still feels like a dream.
We stayed at Santorini Paradise, in the Sunset Studio, since this was our first time, I cannot compare, but it certainly felt authentic, and being on the west side of Oia, we thoroughly enjoyed the rooftop terrace while we enjoyed our dinner.
Other people would be lining up to watch the legendary sunsets, while we could easily relax and enjoy the view. The pizza we got from Skiza was perfect.
We enjoyed Pito Gyro twice durning our three day stay, it was really inexpensive and absolutely delicious! It was an easy walk from where we stayed, and also near Drossos, where we rented a scooter for the day. For us it was perfect! Be aware, you’ll need an international drivers license for the rental. And some places wouldn’t rent to you unless you had the card, they wouldn’t accept the online version. Drossos accepted our online international license.
We drove to Kamari Beach, Thira (Fira), and came back to Oia. Such a beautiful Island!
We of course had to get the shot of the three blue church domes, people will line up to get the shot, but it’s worth the wait. We went in the early evening, at night, and early in the morning before we took a car to the airport. I think early morning was my fav, very few people out and the color was enhanced by the beautiful sunrise.
Maria, who runs Santorini Paradise, told us about a fun snorkeling spot, and even gave us masks and snorkels to check it out. We walked down the many steps to Amoudi Bay, where we walked left, through the restaurants and around the corner to an amazing snorkel spot. Once you swim to the tiny island, you can go up some steps and jump off the cliff if you wish. The hubby jumped while I watched. It was amazing. Afterwards, you can take the Donkey’s back up the hill, I’m allergic to we just took pics and enjoyed the walk.
If you’re in Oia in the early morning, 6:30am, I’d highly recommend a walk. Our flight out was early or we would’ve missed this time of day. So serene and lovely. I know we’ll be back some day. Until then Santorini.
