It’s been way too long. We’ve lived in Colorado for over 23 years now and have NEVER hiked Maroon Bells. We packed up our two youngest kids, drove up to Aspen and spent two days there to enjoy Maroon Bells. While the fall color wasn’t at it’s peak, there was still enough to excite the eyes.

While it is a bit of a drive from Denver, it took us 3.5 hours, this spot is well worth it! We are considering a return trip in a couple weeks to try and catch even more fall color.

We stayed at The Inn at Aspen and found it perfect for our needs. Our room had a private bedroom and pull out bed in the living room. We enjoyed the hot tub that night and sat around their outdoor fire pit before retiring for the night.

On our way home, we decided to stop at a little natural hot spring we read about online, called Penny Hot Springs. You can find more info about where it’s located, here. It was a perfect end to the day before we head back to Denver.
