We told each of our kids that we’d take them on a trip to visit Aunt Joy in Nova Scotia. So when it was Jarod & Laura’s turn, since the flight wasn’t direct anyway, and it didn’t cost any more points with United Airlines, we flew first to Chicago to visit some dear friends of ours, then to NYC, and then to visit Joy, Tim and girls in Nova Scotia. In 2010 on our way to Israel, we did NYC in 48 hours with our 4 older kids, so now it was Jarod and Laura’s turn!
We did all the usual things, even saw Wicked again as they hadn’t seen it, it’s one of our favorite plays, EVER! I’m sure it helps that our first time seeing it was winning the lottery ticket, THREE ROWS BACK! We just spend an afternoon in Chicago before heading south to visit our friends. We of course stuffed ourselves on Giordano’s and Portillos. This trip, we also tried Geno’s East and Lou Malnati’s. They each were delicious but overall, our favorite is still Girodano’s. Call ahead so you don’t have to wait so long for your pizza!

Having six kids, we’ve loved taking trips with just a couple at a time, it really gives you a chance to spend quality time together. AND, it’s cheaper and easier to get around not having all six with us! 🙂
